Are you looking for something fun to do this Halloween weekend? Pinecrest Parks & Recreation has the answer!
Track or Treat will be held on Halloween day at Evelyn Greer Park. Miami-Dade Monster Merchants will be set up around the track providing treats to all ghosts, goblins and friends. What a great, safe alternative to traditional trick or treating. Please bring a trick-or-treat bag! There will be a bounce house and haunted house.

Domain of Fears will take place both Saturday and Sunday. Enjoy an event of scary fun-fear where the killer cupid and his minions await your arrival! Travel through a scary graveyard, the gypsy’s tavern, the castle of hungry vampires, a torture chamber, a portal and killer cupid’s love nest. This event is appropriate for all ages! I’m guessing that means that even chickens such as myself can go without fear of really being scared to death.

Coral Gables’ Carnaval on the Mile
March 4th, 2009 Categories: Coral Gables, Entertainment
The city of Coral Gables is hosting it’s 9th annual “jazztronomical arts festival” this weekend. If you’ve never experienced it, you’re missing out!
The Carnaval on the Mile is well regarded as a fun time for all and a premiere showcase of Latin Jazz. The event takes place on the famed Miracle Mile in Coral Gables the first weekend in March. Miracle Mile is the mile from LeJeune Road to Douglas Road on what would otherwise be Coral Way. It’s a mile long walk of exclusive shops, restaurants, cafes, the Miracle Mile Theater and more.
There’s plenty for the family to do starting Friday, March 6th and the activities continue on Saturday and Sunday. Art displays, sculptures, crafts, lots of food and drinks and lots of live performances all weekend long.
The event is free as are all the performances.
Wear comfy shoes and get ready to shake el eskeleto!

Schnebly Redland Winery Carambola Stomp
February 14th, 2008 Categories: Entertainment
For those of you old enough to remember I Love Lucy and the episode where she went a-grape-stompin’ in Italy…
Schnebly is having their Carambola Stomp this weekend, bare feet and all. If you’re due for a mani-pedi stop by Schnebly’s first, stomp some fruit, then go get your feet done.
Surprisingly, I couldn’t find this on Schnebly’s website, but you can visit their site for address, phone number and all that good stuff.
Carambola Stomp at Schnebly Redland Winery, Saturday & Sunday, Feb. 16 & 17.

Redland Riot Road Rallye Tomorrow
January 11th, 2008 Categories: Entertainment
You’re going to be angry with me for bringing this to you so late. But you’ll be even more angry if I don’t tell you about it. I am rescheduling my Saturday activities so I can make it to the Redland Riot Road Rallye tomorrow. I’ll hit the Redland Festival on Sunday instead!
The Road Rallye is not a race. It’s a leisurely drive through Miami’s lovely countryside (better known as the Redland). It will be highlighted with a sort of scavenger hunt at the stops along the way. Whoever answers the most questions correctly wins at the end of the day. Prizes – goody!
I don’t have a classic or unusual car so it’s a good thing all legal vehicles are welcome (I stress legal because you’re not supposed to be riding your ATV’s on paved roads so don’t show up to the Rallye in your ATV!)
It starts at 11 AM (MUST arrive before noon) at Cauley Square (West side of US1 & 224 Street) and ends at 5Pm at the Redland Hotel in Homestead. In between there will be scheduled stops at some of the Redland’s better known attractions such as Robert Is Here, Schnebly Redland’s Winery, Fruit & Spice Park, Knaus Berry Farm and more!
To print a map of the route click here.
There is no fee to participate but bring some change for the stops along the way. There’s always something yummy calling out to you!

Redland Festival This Weekend
January 11th, 2008 Categories: Entertainment
Sorry for the short notice, but I’ve been super busy selling houses these last two weeks!
Please try to get on over to the Fruit and Spice Park this weekend for the 33rd annual Redland Festival. It’s sure to please.
In addition to the usual fare of fruit, vendors, rich foods, exhibits and activities, this year they’ve been able to lure Dominic Gaudious to the festival. Gaudious is an instrumentalist who performed at the 1996 Olympics and has opened for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
According to Karen Esty, the event coordinator, Gaudious plays a mean guitar.
This picture is from last year’s festival. I kept my distance! Ha ha.
The Fruit and Spice Park is located at the corner of SW 248th Street & 187th Avenue in the Redland.
Admission is $6 for anyone 12 and older. Under 12 get in free.
The Festival is tomorrow and Sunday from 10AM – 5PM
Come on over and join the fun!
